Philippines Access to Sustainable Energy Project
In the Philippines, despite strong economic growth, many Filipinos live just above the poverty line, cycling in and out of poverty due to high vulnerability to climatic, disaster, financial and price shocks. The government has a plan to achieve 90% household electrification in the next few years. Even though the government is on track to achieve this target, more remote and dispersed households in unelectrified areas lag for various reasons including conflict affected areas and isolated islands. GPOBA support targets low-income communities in those conflict affected and isolated areas increase access to electricity through renewable energy such as solar-home systems in a sustainable manner.
